Reflecting on 2020

Karen Millen Dress | Zara Heels (similar here & here

How fabulous is this dress?! I may have had a night of insomnia, and thought I would just briefly 'browse' the Karen Millen sale. OMG it's soo good! And they still have sales. Click the above link if you dare.

This last year has actually been pretty good, despite the multiple cancelled holidays (which I'm really feeling!). I moved north of London - further into the countryside, and trained for my new job in Emergency & Critical Care - which I'm really enjoying! I also accomplished my main goal of the year, which was to pay off my credit card. Such an amazing feeling to have succeeded at this.

I have a few new goals for 2021, mostly career and financially related - and mostly going hand in hand. Back to studying some more this year! Exciting, but also I just see ££££.

This New Year is going to be even better, and I'm really hoping to be able to start travelling again, as this is something I miss terribly. Anyone else just want to hop on a plane and fly anywhere?! Even if it's for a spin in the sky.

Wishing you all a wonderful and Happy New Year!

Merry Christmas Eve (& New Blog Name!)

Merry Christmas everyone! I hope you are able to spend it with your families or friends. Here in the UK it's all gone a bit wrong, but I hope you are having a good one nonetheless. I will be heading into work in a few hours, as working in emergency means this is the busiest time of year. Keeping my fingers crossed for a quiet night.

I've also been working on this blog and domain name (OMG it took me forever), and have re-branded from Stiletto in the Cloud to Catwalk Doctor. Still fashion, but adding in some veterinary knowledge. Mostly, I am hoping to do this on youtube! Totally terrifying, but I think it could be interesting to share what it's like being a vet, and some of the cases I see, along with helpful advice. What do you think? If anyone has any video suggestions do let me know! In the meantime, if you'd like to subscribe - click here

Wishing you all a wonderful holiday season! I hope to catch up with you more regularly in the New Year. 2021 it is :)

I have a new love, and it's wrap dresses and jumpers. There's just nothing more flattering, at all times (as in even when you opted for a drive-thru McDonald's meal for dinner!). This dress got a lot of wear during this summer. I really like a long sleeve dress, especially in England. Very comfy for lounging at home, but feeling dressed up.

I am back home doing online lectures, after spending some time in clinic. Nervous and excited about starting night work in emergency soon. I have some wild plans for this weekend, of staying home! The weather has gotten colder, and it's the time of year I enjoy going into hibernation. I am however, looking forward to styling some Autumn outfits, and might even plan some out.

Cheers to the weekend!

Summer Dress in Basel

The weather has been great this weekend. I caught a glimpse of it, when I stepped out of the clinic for a moment to talk to a client on Sunday. That's pretty much all I saw of it! But, it did make me think back to my Switzerland trip, and I realised I never shared this outfit on here. It was taken in the Basel Town Hall. Love this dress! I just feel I get a lot more wear out of floaty, long sleeved dresses. Mostly because I can often transition them into Autumn with boots and a coat.

In other news, I'm back in clinic now working in Emergency and Critical Care. I still have so much to learn, but it's becoming a bit more manageable each shift. This is definitely the year of growth, and a great opportunity given we just cancelled our Florida trip to Universal Studios in December (totally gutted!). It's all about focusing on the good.

I hope everyone is having a fabulous start to the week! It's my birthday in a few days, and I'll have some days off to go and visit my brother in Poole. Fingers crossed the weather stays lovely! Chat soon.

Casual in Lucerne

I’m sharing a few more snaps from my trip to Switzerland a couple weeks ago now. Very much wishing I could be back there, but also relieved I went when I did as things seem to be going a bit backwards currently.

I’ve had this top for years (click here to see it a few years back!), and it’s one of those inexpensive purchases that I’ve worn over and over. I also am obsessed with my All Saints jeans, and may never purchase from another brand again. Will be keeping my eyes peeled for their next sale, because they are so good!

This is my second week of learning from home (quite fun actually!). It’s been really lovely, but I’ll be back in clinic soon. I’m making the transition into Emergency and Critical Care. Exciting and terrifying all at the same time. Also have any of you worked exclusively nights? Would love any tips you might have.

In other news I have also started a walking challenge, and it’s resulted in me walking in dreadful rain and wind conditions. It’s made me rather competitive!

Wishing you all a lovely weekend. We’re visiting family, so it’s going to be a lovely relaxed one.

Mount Pilatus (& an update)

It's currently 33 degrees in England, definite heatwave sweeping through. A couple of weeks ago I was in Northumberland and Newcastle area visiting my boyfriends family. It was really lovely, and then last week we both did a road trip to Switzerland. I also finished at my old job just prior to this, as I will be starting working in emergency and critical care. So lots going on recently!

But the above photos are from a trip to the top of Mount Pilatus, above lake Lucerne in Switzerland. It was incredible. We took the steepest cogwheel train in the world up there - approximately a 40 minute trip, which is very scenic and relaxing. We stayed the night at the hotel there, and the dinner and breakfast was incredible so I would highly recommend doing that if you can. There are a lot of visitors, particularly if the weather is good. After 5pm in the evening, it's only the hotel staff and guests who are up there, as the last cable car and cogwheel trains have gone down.

I wore this tweed dress for dinner, which was perfect - although taking those photos wasn't the easiest, it was freezing in the evening! I was only able to pack a small backpack, as we had planned to explore Lucerne the next day, prior to heading back to Basel which is where we were staying. This is why I wore ballet flats during the day and for dinner! It worked because we weren't planning to do any proper hiking, just explore the surrounding area of the hotel and take in the views. We are thinking of going back and actually hiking to the top one day, but we'll see. I'd need to start by buying hiking boots...

Starting training for my new job next week, it will be online so I am looking forward to spending more time in my new home - since I moved. I started by commuting to my old job during the lockdown, which meant the move has been very gradual.

I hope you enjoyed this post, quite a chatty one! I have also been sharing lots on instagram (@stilettointhecloud) and stories.

Summer Staples

H&M Dress | H&M Slides | Zara Bag

Last week was busy at work, but this week I'm only working a couple days. We are able to start going out a bit more, and I believe most shops are now open. However, there are so many rules and restrictions that honestly, I find it takes the fun out of it. So I'm trying to save some money and stay home a bit longer.

I wore this outfit on what may have been the hottest year in England so far. Definitely a great outfit for sightseeing somewhere really warm (think Greece or Spain). I love neutrals in general, but especially this natural basket woven material. I will warn you, the dress needed some extra sutures in place to stop it from flying open, so there is a reason it's so affordable.

I was introduced to a Chinese supermarket, and got the most amazing prawn dim sum! I don't eat meat, and sometimes it can be tricky to find only prawn or fish items in these places. It's also so easy to make, as they only require steaming for 10-15 minutes. Definitely my new obsession.

Picnic Walk

It seems lockdown in England is finally easing up, and I was able to meet a university friend in Surrey on Sunday. It was really sunny, and we wanted to book a National Trust to visit but they all need to be reserved now, and the slots go so quickly! So we went to the National Trust Swan Barn Walk, which is basically a lot of beautiful fields and meadows, and some woodlands.

We took a picnic, and my friend Kelly made some really good prawn and avocado with mayonnaise wraps. I am definitely recreating them soon. I brought a fabulous chocolate cake and strawberries. Can you think of a better lunch?

This outfit was perfect for the picnic, and my new bag very appropriate. We did change into walking leggings and trainers afterwards though!

In other news, I'm currently in the process of moving and have a month left at my current job. It's been a crazy time, and work hasn't stopped, but I'm ready for a holiday! I mean, who isn't?!

Faux Fur Coat

I am planning for this to my last Winter outfit on here, until the next one that is! I'm so ready for Summer, and I am meant to be going to Spain in a couple weeks but that looks increasingly unlikely. So, no tan for now! Hope everyone is able to make the most of this situation. I can't work from home as a vet, but totally jealous of those who have the flexibility to do so.

I loved the above outfit, it was perfect for walking around London. Simple, but really chic and very comfortable and warm. Can it be Summer already? Pretty please.

Cotswolds: Bibury

Zara Faux Fur Vest (similar) | Primark Jumper (old - similar) | Furla Bag (similar) | All Saints Jeans | Zara Boots (similar)

Here's another quick post from the Cotswolds! Bibury was such a lovely village, with the loveliest tea room run by a family. They served home made soup and sandwiches too! Located opposite the river, you can't miss it.

I hope you had a lovely weekend. I'm very ready for the rain to just stop now. Also I'm currently in a serious declutter and organize mood, and it's extending into my digital life too. Very satisfying!
