Black Choker & Cakes

I must apologize for the over-exposure on these photos and blurriness. As much as it pains me, I'm posting it, because I love the background and after this post, I'm trying to be less hard on myself with my blog photography. I am trying to improve, but there will be errors, and I'm not unlimited on time and photographer's (mother/friends)time. It was one of those sunny days where you can't quite see if the image is correctly lit or not. I scored this top on sale in Zara, and it was one of those one left in your size so it's meant to be moments. I decided a black choker was the way to really take this outfit to the next level, and now I want to add the choker to every outfit.

I have spent my week working on my dissertation mostly, but I also headed to Vienna for the day (where these photos are taken) and to Bratislava another day. It's one of the fabulous advantages of living near the two closest capitals in the world. I'm getting ready to go back to university now, and while I am ridiculously excited to begin my final year, I feel my dissertation still looming over like a dark cloud.

City Living

Zara Jacket (similar) | Tommy Hilfiger Jumper | Zara Jeans (similar) | Hugo Boss Loafers (similar) | Longchamp Bag | Asos Sunglasses

This is the perfect city outfit, if you live in a colder climate, or just in Autumn. My Longchamp bag is definitely one of my brighter purchases, because it doesn't weigh anything on it's own, can be easily wiped clean and you can flat pack it into your suitcase. Need I say more? I have to say though, I think this all black version is so chic. Comfortable flats are also a must for lots of walking around.

My friend took these photos in the outskirts of Dublin. I absolutely love the white buildings, and would totally live in one one day, if I can. Being in Ireland and Northern Ireland last week was really lovely. I hadn't been back to the UK in around six years, and I can't even tell you how much I miss it. Mainly the food if we are to be honest, because the weather isn't something you really miss about the UK. I ate lots of Cadbury's chocolate and flakes, buttermilk pancakes, Walker's salt & vinegar crisps, fish & chips and so much more. In fact, I would have happily left the contents of my suitcase there and replaced it with food, but I guess one has to be practical sometimes.

I also got to spend a lot of time on farms, since my friend is a mixed animal vet. It was really nice to be outside in the Irish countryside, but it also reinforced for me how much I don't want to work with large animals, and just stick to small animals. Learning what you don't like is just as important as knowing what you do want.

LBD Daytime Edition

Boohoo Dress (similar) | Ralph Lauren Sandals (similar) | Scarf (similar) | Bag (similar) | Boohoo Sunglasses (similar) | Skagen Watch (similar

The Little Black Dress is well-known for it's classic, easy style. A good wardrobe is often filled with at least 2-3 LBD's if not many more. However, it's also nice to sometimes try and pull those dresses out to see some light during the day too. I worry that some might be a bit much for the daytime folk, but you will find that paired with some flat shoes and adding a simple scarf can instantly class an outfit up. This dress originally had a wire keeping the chest area in one place, but an unfortunate experience in the washing machine removed it, not to be replaced. Since it was a bit too open, I added a ribbon and closed it up, and with it tone the sexiness of it down significantly.

Do you ever wear your evening dresses during the day?

I'm currently in Ireland doing clinic practice with my friend, so be sure you are following me on snapchat (stilettocloud) and/or instagram. I am scheduling this post, so for live updates check my social media. Also, a big thank you to the lovely ladies who commented on my previous post. Sometimes it's hard not doing as well as you want to, but it happens, and we have to get through it and learn along the way.

Perfectionism in the Blogging World

New Yorker Shorts (similar) | H&M Top (similar) | Ralph Lauren Sandals (similar) | Zara Belt (similar) | Michael Kors Bag (outlet) | Skagen Watch (similar)

Today I thought I would talk about something I often struggle with, when it comes to my blog and maybe even more so, my instagram. I never really considered myself a perfectionist (although some who know me might disagree), even though being a Virgo basically suggests I must be. However, I strive to create the best images I can to put on this blog, and often I find that I don't love how the photos turned out, or even worse, the outfit. I have two outfits I shot within the last two weeks, which just didn't make the cut. While I would love to do them over and over until I get the right lighting and background, time wise I can't. Also seeing as taking photos is a two person job (the photographer being my mother or friends) I can hardly ask them to spend hours and hours doing this. All I (and anyone) can do is  aim to constantly improve, and not get too stressed over things not being exactly as I would wish.

With all that being said, I LOVE this outfit (the photos I feel could improve, but I'm only human, and not a model or a photographer). It was a very hot day yesterday. I headed across the border to Bratislava for some shopping and bought these beautiful shoes, which I'm head over heels for.  They are similar to the Chanel ones I have seen everywhere, which of course are nowhere near my budget. I don't own anything like them, which is how I convinced myself I needed them.

I'm flying to Ireland in a couple of days to do clinic practice with a friend of mine who graduated a few years ago. Really excited, since I have never been to Ireland and also to see her, it's been far too long! I will be posting on my snapchat (stilettocloud) and instagram, so follow along if you want to see what I get up to.

How To Wear Denim On Denim

Bershka Top (similar) | New Yorker Shorts (similar) | Stradivarius Wedges (similar) | Mango Clutch (similar) | Scarf (similar)

Denim on denim can be a tricky one, and one which can easily go wrong. Below I have compiled some of my key tips to do it right. Of course everyone is different, but if you have been reading here for a while, then you know I like to keep things relatively neutral.

1. Don't match your denim.
Unless they come as a set you will rarely get them exactly the same shade, plus it's just too much denim, and can be overwhelming. I like to mix a dark wash with a light wash.

2. Try to avoid blue accessories.
You don't want to end up looking smirf-like. This is mainly key when you are wearing blue on blue denim.

3. Don't over-accessorize.
By having two different pieces of denim going on already, keeping the accessories fairly cohesive will keep your outfit from looking too busy. A pop of colour is great, just not several pops of colour (reserve those for a one tone, neutral outfit)

I hope you are having a fabulous start to the week. I'm working at the clinic again this week, which I am thoroughly enjoying, but waking up at 6am everyday is hard work! I am not a morning person by any means, but I desperately want to be, so I'm trying to embrace it. Ditching my eye mask has helped (although I do miss it terribly). I even got up early on Sunday morning to shoot these photos and avoid falling off the bandwagon with my early bird routine. If you have any tips on becoming a morning person, I would love to hear them!
