5 Ways to Embrace Winter

I have always been someone who loves warm weather. The fact that I now live in a place where it gets very cold during the Winter was a rough transition. It also doesn't help at al, that a lot of my friends live in tropical areas. I consider myself to be a very positive person, so I'm always trying to look on the bright side and make the most of things. I thought I would share with you how I have learnt to enjoy it, rather than hate it.

1. Start by changing the way you think. It may feel natural to automatically hate the cold rain and wind, or ice and snow. However, there can also be things to look forward to when the temperatures drop. Challenge yourself to look for those things.

2. You aren't expected to be out all the time, so it's the perfect excuse to have at-home days. I love to do this at least once a week. My favourite part is being able to snuggle up on the sofa with a warm blanket and watch a good movie or some episodes of my favourite series. A warm cup of tea and popcorn or chocolate is also essential.

3. Take advantage of the fashion. There has never been a better reason to bundle up and be able to walk around feeling like a giant marshmallow or like you are in a duvet. Also, just because the weather is gloomy doesn't mean your style has to suffer. You can check out my ideal Winter outfit here

4. There is always Christmas to look forward to. Even if you don't celebrate it, seeing the city or town illuminated and beautifully decorated should be enough to make you smile. I like to get myself into the festive mood around the end of November, but it really kicks in on the 1st of December, when I open my advent calendar. And no, you are never too young for one!

 5. Last but not least, if you are lucky enough to have some snow, or have access to a ski resort, go! Even though I have never been a fan of the cold for prolonged periods of time (so more than a week), I have loved going skiing since I was a child. If you don't like to go skiing, I would still highly recommend going to a ski resort with friends or family and enjoy the gorgeous snowy scenery. It really is a huge difference from the city.and a great way to spend some time in the nature.
